Details of the Operation and Involvement of Ukrainian Units

According to the commander, the strike was carried out from over 150 kilometers away from the combat engagement line, where four Mi-28 and Mi-17 helicopters were located. The helicopters were undergoing operational refueling and inter-flight technical inspections. Pilots from the combined crews of the 429th Separate Brigade “Achilles” and the 43rd Separate Artillery Brigade participated in the operation, which was developed in cooperation with the Special Operations Center “A” of the SBU.

“The strikes were delivered to the rear central part of the engine compartment, bypassing the main rotor blades. As a result of the strike, at least one of the helicopter maintenance specialists was eliminated, who was caught in the drone’s sight,” said Brovdi.

Russia’s Reaction and Trends in Drone Attacks

The exact timing of the operation is not disclosed. The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that between 7:00 and 14:00 Moscow time, Russian air defense units shot down 50 Ukrainian drones over the Belgorod, Bryansk, Kursk, Orenburg regions, and the Perm Krai.

Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, air strikes by Ukrainian drones on various targets in this country have been regularly recorded. Throughout 2024 and 2025, the main targets remain oil refineries and military infrastructure. Similarly, military facilities of the Russian Federation in temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories are also being struck.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has repeatedly confirmed such attacks, emphasizing that the Defense Forces are systematically implementing measures to reduce the combat potential of the Russian occupation forces and compel the Russian Federation to cease aggression against Ukraine.
