Reasons for the Sharp Drop in Cabbage Prices
According to daily monitoring results, just over the last weekend, the selling price of cabbage in Ukrainian farms decreased by another 21%. Currently, most trading operations are taking place in the price range of 3 to 9 UAH per kilogram (0.07–0.20 USD/kg).
Market representatives explain this price dynamic by a significant deterioration in the quality of cabbage due to prolonged storage in warehouses. In addition, there is a gradual decline in demand, which further intensifies the pressure on selling prices.
“Current cabbage prices in Ukraine are already on average 84% lower than a year ago. It is worth noting that at the beginning of April 2025, sales were made at 35-42 UAH/kg (0.80-0.96 USD/kg)” – the statement reads.
Future Price Prospects for Vegetables
Analysts predict that the trend of decreasing prices for white cabbage will continue in the near future, especially in the event of further deterioration in the quality of vegetables in storage. The market is also observing a decline in demand, which may lead to additional price reductions.
In comparison, last week in Ukraine, there was an increase in prices for greenhouse tomatoes, caused by a reduction in the supply of imported products amid stable demand.
