Ukraine Increases Dairy Product Exports Amid Falling Raw Material Prices

Україна нарощує експорт молокопродуктів на тлі здешевшання вітчизняної сировини.

In March 2025, Ukraine exported 12,270 tons of dairy products worth $37.89 million. Compared to February, the natural export volumes increased by 20%, and compared to March 2024, they rose by 44%. The largest markets for Ukrainian dairy products became Germany and Poland. Export revenue grew by 39% compared to February and by 110% for domestic products compared to March 2024. The most significant increase was seen in ice cream exports, which reached 1,520 tons, marking a 76% rise.

During the first quarter of 2025, dairy product export volumes totaled 31,140 tons, which is 21% more than in the same period last year. The total export value amounted to $89.77 million, exceeding the figures from 2024 by 62%. Butter, milk, and cheese became the most exported categories of dairy products.

It is worth noting that in March, the price of milk raw materials in Ukraine was 28% lower than in Europe, which stimulated demand for domestic products. However, Serhiy Vovchenko, a top manager at the Milk Alliance holding, noted during the Business Wisdom Summit 2025 that European producers offering lower prices for their products are pushing Ukrainian dairy goods out of the markets in the Middle East and North Africa. He emphasized the need to develop mechanisms to reduce production costs. He also reminded that the completion of the duty-free trade agreement with the EU will be a significant challenge for the industry.
