Funding Defense Projects with EU Support
Kyiv and Bucharest have reached an agreement to submit applications for funding specific joint projects under the EU’s SAFE defense credit initiative. The Romanian side expressed interest in modernizing its own defense industry through the implementation of joint initiatives with Ukraine.
“The Ukrainian side also proposed to Romania the implementation of joint projects in the fields of air and missile defense, maritime drones, artillery, and other types of weapons.”
Banks and Consortiums to Support Weapon Manufacturers
At the initiative of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, a meeting was held with representatives from the National Bank, the Ministry of Finance, and several banking institutions. The main topic of the meeting was to develop effective mechanisms for financing defense industry enterprises, which will allow for the quality execution of state defense contracts.
A consortium of state banks is already operational, ready to accumulate and provide loans for financing the defense industry. Banks with foreign capital may also join this initiative. To optimize the loan financing process, a special working group has been established to prepare relevant proposals for improving the mechanisms for attracting funds for the defense sector in the shortest possible time.
