Representatives of the relevant ministries of Ukraine and Moldova held constructive negotiations regarding the restoration of railway connections between Odesa and Chișinău. While discussing this issue, the participants noted that the resumption of the route, taking into account security risks, would contribute to improved transport accessibility and strengthen economic ties between the countries.

Particularly important in the discussions was the issue of restoring the transit of Moldovan freight wagons through Ukrainian territory. The Ukrainian side confirmed the absence of any restrictions on their movement. However, problems in the exchange of technical information arose due to a massive cyberattack on the information systems of “Ukrzaliznytsia,” which occurred on March 23, 2025. Currently, active work is underway to restore stable system operations.
Energy Cooperation between Ukraine and Moldova
In addition to transport issues, both countries expressed interest in cooperation to ensure energy security. Within the framework of this cooperation, the development of alternative gas and electricity supply routes, as well as the integration of energy markets and coordination of actions with the European Union, is being discussed. The Moldovan side expressed interest in utilizing Ukrainian underground gas storage facilities to form its own gas reserves.
