Ukraine Received Its First Shipment of American Liquefied Gas in 2026

Ukraine received its first delivery of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the United States in 2026. The supply was organized in collaboration with the Polish energy company ORLEN. At the end of January, nearly 100 million cubic meters of gas were delivered to the terminal in the Polish city of Świnoujście, after which the resource was transferred to the Ukrainian gas transportation system.

Supply Volumes and Significance for Ukrainian Consumers

As reported by the chairman of Naftogaz, Serhiy Koretsky, the specified volume of gas meets the monthly winter consumption for approximately 700,000 Ukrainian households. This significantly enhances energy stability during periods of increased fuel demand.

“For context: this volume is sufficient for a month of winter consumption for about 700,000 households,” noted Koretsky.

Plans for LNG Imports from the USA in 2026

This year, Ukraine plans to import up to 1 billion cubic meters of liquefied gas from the USA. Contracts have already been signed for subsequent batches of American LNG, which will be delivered to Ukraine throughout February and March 2026. Thus, the country continues to diversify its energy supply sources and strengthen its energy security.
