A meeting took place at the Ministry of Development between representatives of Ukraine and Lithuania, during which key issues regarding the operation, security, and restoration of Ukraine’s port infrastructure were discussed.

Main Needs and Areas of Cooperation
The main goal of the negotiations was to identify the current needs and priorities for the restoration of Ukrainian ports. The Ukrainian side emphasized the acute challenges posed by the military aggression of the Russian Federation. Special attention was given to the issues of demining the waters of the ports and approach channels, modernization and repair of the dredging fleet, as well as the need to purchase specialized vessels for pollution elimination, search and rescue, and pilot vessels. An important aspect remains the measures to enhance the protection of critical infrastructure facilities.
Initiatives and Investment Prospects
The Lithuanian delegation confirmed its interest in developing partnerships, emphasizing its solidarity with Ukraine and readiness to deepen cooperation. The Lithuanian side expressed particular interest in investment projects, including in the format of public-private partnerships, as well as strengthening strategic logistics routes. The parties discussed the potential signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between the administration of the Odesa Sea Port and the Port of Klaipeda, which is expected to open new opportunities for experience exchange and the implementation of joint environmental initiatives.
Among the priority areas of interaction, the exchange of experience in responding to pollution, the implementation of automated environmental monitoring systems, the decarbonization of port activities in accordance with IMO standards and EU legislation, as well as effective management of port waste were identified.
