Grant Assistance for Railways and Roads

Among the joint projects being implemented with the support of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), special attention is being paid to railway connections. As part of the grant program, Ukrzaliznytsia has already received 25,000 tons of rails and heavy construction equipment for the restoration of logistics routes. Additionally, further supplies of another 3,000 tons of rails are planned in the near future.

In the field of automotive infrastructure, Ukraine has received modern modular bridges that allow for the rapid replacement of destroyed structures. A large batch of vehicles and high-tech equipment for inspecting the condition of bridges and ensuring their safety has also been provided.

Port Modernization and Business Engagement

An important component of the partnership is the support of port infrastructure. The Administration of Sea Ports of Ukraine has received new construction equipment that enables quick responses to urgent restoration needs. For further modernization of the ports, extensive involvement of private business is planned, particularly through the implementation of concession projects.

“The volume of humanitarian, technical, and budgetary support provided to us by Japan already amounts to about $15 billion. We are also planning to actively involve businesses in the reconstruction of Ukraine.”

To deepen cooperation in the reconstruction and development of infrastructure, Ukraine and Japan have created a special platform. It is intended to serve as a venue for implementing new joint initiatives and attracting promising investment projects.
