Ukraine and Czech Republic Prepare Intergovernmental Agreement for Reconstruction and Investment Cooperation

Ukraine and the Czech Republic are intensifying preparations for an intergovernmental agreement (G2G) aimed at ensuring the effective implementation of reconstruction projects in the country. Officials from both countries discussed expanding cooperation in the areas of industry, attracting investments, energy, as well as improving water resource and waste management. Importantly, even under the challenging conditions of war, over 220 Czech companies continue to operate in the Ukrainian market.

New Opportunities for Economic Cooperation

The signing of the agreement will mark an important step towards deepening bilateral relations and will enable the implementation of large-scale reconstruction projects. For these purposes, the Czech Republic has already received credit guarantees amounting to 188 million euros from the European Investment Fund. Thanks to these financial instruments, joint projects in both the private and public sectors will commence in 2026. Special attention is given to the “Industrial Ramstein” initiative, which involves supplying equipment to Ukrainian enterprises affected by military actions.

Partnership in the Energy Sector and Opening of CDA Office

The Czech side expressed readiness to implement joint projects in the energy sector, particularly using the public-private partnership mechanism, as well as to participate in concession projects for oil and gas extraction in the Poltava and Lviv regions. To coordinate joint initiatives, the Czech Development Agency office will open in Kyiv later this year.

“Officials from Ukraine and the Czech Republic agreed to expedite the signing of the intergovernmental agreement (G2G), which will assist in the implementation of reconstruction projects in Ukraine. The parties also discussed expanding cooperation in the areas of industry, investment, energy, and water resource and waste management. Even in wartime conditions, 220 Czech companies continue to operate in Ukraine.”
