Trump Threatens Sanctions Over Putin’s Actions Regarding Ukraine

President of the United States Donald Trump expressed his outrage regarding statements made by Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, and is considering the possibility of imposing secondary sanctions on Russian oil and petroleum products. He made this statement during a telephone interview with NBC News, indicating that his frustration is due to Putin’s recent proposals for establishing new leadership in Ukraine, which involve the removal of President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Trump emphasized that if a ceasefire cannot be achieved, he is prepared to implement new sanctions. “I was upset by this. But if a deal is not made, and if I believe that it was Russia’s fault, I am going to impose secondary sanctions on Russia,” he stated in the conversation with NBC.

“There will be no deal for a long time,” Trump remarked, commenting on the situation in Ukraine.

The president also mentioned plans to hold talks with Putin this week. He added that if he fails to reach an agreement to end the bloodshed in Ukraine, and if he believes it was Russia’s fault, he will impose additional tariffs on oil.
