In Ukraine, there has been a continuous increase in the wholesale prices of carrots over the past three weeks. Experts attribute this trend to a reduction in the supply of medium and high-quality root vegetables in the domestic market.

Reasons for the Increase in Carrot Prices
Producers are forced to raise carrot prices due to a sharp decrease in the available stocks of quality products. As analysts note, finding large batches of root vegetables with acceptable quality indicators is becoming increasingly difficult. This stimulates further price hikes for carrots, as demand remains stable.
“As of today (April 18 – ed.), carrots are being sold for 7–14 UAH/kg ($0.16–$0.32/kg), which is on average 13% more expensive than at the end of last working week.”
Price Dynamics and Forecasts
Despite the current increase, the price of carrots in Ukraine is still 65% lower than during the same period last year. Market participants predict that the trend of rising prices may continue, given the limited supply of quality products.
At the same time, opposite trends are observed in the market for other vegetables. In particular, wholesale prices for greenhouse cucumbers have decreased by an average of 21% over the past week, indicating a shift in the balance of supply and demand in this segment.
