The Ukrainian company «UM Liquid Gas» made its first export of liquefied biomethane (bio-LNG) produced in-house in September 2025, sending over 55.7 tons of this eco-friendly energy to the European Union. The buyer was the Cypriot company Preture Liquid Gas, which is the founder of «UM Biogas Company». Both companies are part of the same corporate group, ensuring effective interaction in the international market.

Ukrainian Biomethane: A New Export Direction
Biomethane production takes place at the «Yuzef-Mykolaiv Biogas Plant», located in the Vinnytsia region. Agricultural waste serves as the raw material for producing biomethane, which not only reduces greenhouse gas emissions but also enhances the country’s energy independence.
«UM Liquid Gas» has become the second Ukrainian company to export bio-LNG and the fourth company to export biomethane from Ukraine.
Growth of Biomethane Exports from Ukraine
Earlier in 2025, the first Ukrainian company to export biomethane was the Vitagro group, which supplied it to EU countries via Ukraine’s gas transportation system. Following this, the agricultural holding MHP began exporting Ukrainian bio-LNG to Europe. In June, the group «Hals Agro» also joined this list, sending its own produced biomethane to Germany.
The activation of biomethane exports indicates a gradual strengthening of Ukraine’s position in the European renewable energy market and opens new opportunities for the development of domestic bioenergy.
