Trump Approved Ukraine’s Strikes on Russia’s Energy Infrastructure: Halting Russian Terminals

U.S. President Donald Trump expressed support for Ukraine’s strategy of striking key energy and military infrastructure targets in the Russian Federation. Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky noted that if additional long-range weapon systems are received from the United States, they will be used to intensify pressure on Russia.

Ukrainian Drones Paralyze Russian Energy Terminals

On the night of September 24, the Ukrainian Main Intelligence Directorate conducted a series of attacks using naval drones on Russia’s logistics facilities along the Black Sea coast. The targets included strategically important oil loading complexes and terminals in Novorossiysk and Tuapse. In particular, the operation of the “Transneft” complex “Sheskharis” and the Caspian Pipeline Consortium terminal, which facilitated the export of up to two million barrels of oil per day for shadowy Russian tankers, was disrupted. The oil loading pier of one of the country’s largest terminals in the port of Tuapse was also hit.

Escalation of Attacks and Consequences for the Russian Economy

On the night of September 25, Ukrainian drones attacked the chemical plant “EuroChem-Belorichenskie Fertilizers” in Belorichensk, Krasnodar Krai, Russia. These targeted strikes significantly impacted Russia’s energy sector, leading to a fuel crisis and disruptions in the export of petroleum products.

“This does not mean we will use it. Because if we have it, it adds pressure on Putin to sit down and talk,” Zelensky summarized.

Given the critical situation, the Russian government plans to extend the ban on gasoline exports until the end of 2025 and to impose new restrictions on diesel fuel exports by traders. Manufacturers will still be able to export diesel fuel.
