“transport visa-free”
, has been extended until December 31, 2025, announced Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.
According to the terms of the agreement, Ukrainian road carriers can continue to transport goods to EU countries without the need for special permits. Shmyhal noted that this is already the fourth extension of the agreement, which demonstrates its effectiveness, as the export of Ukrainian goods by road to the EU has increased by 42%, while imports by road have risen by 37%.
The Importance of the Agreement for Ukraine’s Integration
According to the Prime Minister,
“transport visa-free”
is an important part of Ukraine’s sectoral integration into Europe and a significant prerequisite for joining the European Union.
In June 2024, Ukraine and the European Commission extended the
“transport visa-free”
agreement for one year with the possibility of automatic extension until the end of 2025. The updated agreement includes a number of mutual obligations, including the requirement for transport licenses and truck labeling.
New Requirements for Carriers
In particular, this concerns the labeling of trucks that carry out transportation under the agreement; requirements for all drivers to have a transportation license or other confirming documents while performing the transport; as well as obligations for carriers following empty for goods to have confirming documents for the cargo they plan to bring.
