Development of Nuclear Energy as a Strategic Course
Speaking in the Verkhovna Rada, Denys Shmyhal highlighted the strategic importance of nuclear energy for Ukraine’s energy independence. He stressed that this sector forms the foundation of the domestic energy system, and therefore its development is a priority task for the government.
“Where it is possible to act quickly and build nuclear blocks based on already developed projects – we must do it. The Khmelnytskyi NPP is closest to the construction of new nuclear blocks. Therefore, my position is to develop this direction and build as quickly as possible,” said Shmyhal.
Prospects for Corporate Reforms in the Energy Sector
In addition to plans for expanding nuclear generation, Denys Shmyhal expressed support for the corporatization of Public Joint Stock Company “Centrenergo.” He believes that this will prepare the enterprise for possible future privatization, which will contribute to increasing its efficiency and transparency in the electricity market.
