Traffic Restrictions at the Solotvyno – Sighetu Marmației Border Crossing Extended Until May 2026

At the Ukrainian-Romanian border, traffic restrictions have been extended at the Solotvyno – Sighetu Marmației border crossing due to the reconstruction of the bridge over the Tisza River. These measures have been implemented to ensure safety and the effective conduct of repair work on this strategically important transportation facility.

This is reported by Finway

“Starting from April 15, vehicle processing will be suspended on weekdays from 09:00 to 16:00. At the same time, pedestrians will be able to cross the border without changes”.

Crossing Features and Recommendations for Drivers

According to preliminary data, the updated working schedule will remain in effect until May 15, 2026. During this period, the completion of the main part of the bridge repairs is planned, which should ensure the continued safe movement of vehicles and pedestrians.

Drivers are advised to plan their trips in advance, taking into account the temporary time restrictions. It is also recommended to use alternative border crossings and routes to avoid long waits in queues.

Changes for Travelers to the EU

It is worth noting that from April 10, 2026, an automated entry and exit registration system (EES) will come into effect in European Union countries. This system will apply to all citizens of non-EU states, including Ukrainians traveling to the 29 Schengen Area countries. The new measures will affect the border crossing procedures, so travelers should familiarize themselves with the new rules in advance.
