Joint Stock Company “Ukrnafta” together with Joint Stock Company “Ukrgazvydobuvannya”, which are part of the Naftogaz Group, have successfully completed drilling their first joint gas well at one of Ukrnafta’s fields. This was reported by the Chairman of the Board of NJSC “Naftogaz of Ukraine” Serhiy Koretsky.

Partnership for Increased Production

According to the information, the depth of the new well is 5681 meters. For the drilling operations, “Ukrgazvydobuvannya” utilized its own drilling rigs, while “Ukrnafta” will handle the subsequent operation of the facility. This is the first joint project between the companies aimed at enhancing domestic gas production in Ukraine.

Serhiy Koretsky emphasized that such cooperation between the companies of the Naftogaz Group allows for more efficient use of available resources and accelerates the implementation of strategically important projects. By 2026, the launch of eight more new wells is already planned as part of similar collaboration.

Priorities in Challenging Conditions

The head of Naftogaz stressed that supporting and developing domestic gas production remains a key task even in the face of constant threats from the enemy. The Ukrainian energy infrastructure is regularly subjected to attacks: on the night of March 20, Russian troops launched another massive attack on the oil and gas facilities of the Naftogaz Group in the Poltava and Sumy regions using drones. This marks over thirty targeted attacks on the company’s critical infrastructure since the beginning of the year.

“Supporting domestic gas production is one of Naftogaz’s key priorities amid constant enemy shelling,” concluded Koretsky.
