“Florence is known for its meat dishes, such as ‘Bistecca alla Fiorentina’ — a thick bone-in steak. Another regional delicacy is lampredotto, a unique sandwich made from beef tripe. Don’t miss the local gelato, and considering it’s Italy, the pizza and pasta will also be fantastic.”
Positions of Other Cities in the Ranking
Palermo, the capital of Sicily, takes second place in the ranking. Here, 50 culinary workshops are available, and 88% of the hotels in the city have four stars or more. Bologna occupies the third position, renowned worldwide for its Bolognese sauce.
The fourth spot goes to Lisbon, the capital of Portugal, known for its traditional dessert, pastel de nata. Thus, Italian cities dominate the top 10 cities for culinary tourism, but other European gastro-centers have also made the list.
