Over 10,600 bitcoins (equivalent to approximately $1.26 billion) were moved from three old cryptocurrency wallets that had shown no activity for the past 3–5 years. Analysts believe that these wallets likely belong to a single owner.

Transfer Details and Wallet History

All three wallets received their bitcoins back on December 13, 2020, when the price of one coin was around $18,000. Two of these wallets remained completely inactive until July 23, 2025, while the third conducted only two minor transactions of 7 BTC each about three years ago.

On the night of July 21 to 22 of this year, the full balances from all three wallets were transferred to new, currently unknown addresses that have yet to show any activity.

Although it has not been officially established whether these wallets belong to an individual or an organization, data from Arkham Intelligence indicates that all three addresses interacted with the same wallet, which may suggest a common owner.

“Three bitcoin wallets, likely linked to a single owner, moved 10,603 BTC (around $1.26 billion at the time of writing) after several years of inactivity.”

Activity of Large Bitcoin Holders in July

July 2025 has already become a month of increased activity among so-called “whales” in the bitcoin market. Earlier this month, another significant transfer was recorded: a “Satoshi-era whale” moved over 80,000 BTC (equivalent to $9.5 billion) for the first time in 14 years, activating wallets that had remained dormant since April 2011. Analysts believe these funds may have been directed to the Galaxy Digital platform for further sale through over-the-counter (OTC) transactions.

The increase in activity among large holders of digital currency coincides with a period of prolonged growth in the price of bitcoin. At the beginning of July, the price of BTC reached an all-time high, exceeding the $123,000 mark, and continues to hover around this level. As of the time of writing, bitcoin was trading at $118,050, according to TradingView.
