Ukrainian diplomats ensured the return of citizens
According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the evacuation process is under the personal control of the head of the foreign policy agency, Andrii Sybiha. Ukrainian diplomats working in Poland, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Kuwait were involved in organizing the evacuation. Their efforts allowed for the safe transport of Ukrainians who sought help due to life-threatening situations caused by military actions.
“Ukrainian diplomats in Poland, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Kuwait facilitated the evacuation of 16 Ukrainian citizens who found themselves in a difficult situation due to hostilities in the region,” the statement said.
International cooperation and further support
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine expressed gratitude to Polish partners for their organizational support, as well as to the European Union for coordinating actions during the evacuation. The agency emphasized that it will continue to provide necessary assistance to Ukrainian citizens who are in the Middle East and other regions of the world.
It is worth noting that earlier the Embassy of Ukraine in Qatar reported that as of early March, evacuation from this country was not planned, but citizens continued to contact the diplomatic mission for consultations regarding the possibility of departure.
Tensions in the region increased after the start of a joint operation by the United States and Israel against Iran on February 28, which resulted in the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and several other high-ranking Iranian officials. In response, Iranian military forces launched massive missile and drone attacks not only against Israel and U.S. military facilities but also against many neighboring countries, which Tehran considers allies of Washington.
