On the night of April 17, Russian forces launched another strike on the port infrastructure of the Odesa region. As a result of the attack, drone strikes were recorded at the port of the city of Izmail. The shelling caused damage to administrative and production buildings, as well as railway infrastructure facilities. Fires broke out at the site, which were promptly extinguished by units of the State Emergency Service.

Situation in Izmail After the Attack
According to the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development, no one was injured as a result of the shelling. Relevant services continue to work at the scene, assessing the extent of the damage and ensuring the safety of the population.
“At night, Russia again attacked the port infrastructure of Odesa region. A drone strike was recorded in Izmail on the territory of the port. Administrative and production buildings, as well as railway infrastructure facilities, were damaged, and fires broke out, which were swiftly extinguished by rescuers,” the statement said.
Ongoing Attacks on Odesa Region Ports
The Ministry of Community and Territorial Development emphasizes that attacks on the region’s port infrastructure have been ongoing for several days. Despite the constant threats, the ports of Odesa continue to operate and play a crucial role in ensuring global food security.
Earlier, on April 14, Russian military forces also directed a drone at a commercial vessel that was navigating the maritime corridor for loading grain crops.
