Over 1.5 Million Addresses Verified in Ukraine: Important Data

In Ukraine, the verification of addresses as part of the Unified State Register of Addresses (USRA) has surpassed 1.5 million, accounting for 14.2% of the total number of addresses in the country. Among cities, Sumy leads with a verification rate of 79.3%. The process checks both the existence and the correctness of specific house numbers.

According to data published on the “Government online” platform, other cities also show significant rates: Kherson – 67.5% of verified addresses, Lviv – 43.8%. The highest share of verified addresses by region is observed in Kherson Oblast, where 49.6% of addresses are verified, as well as in Mykolaiv – 31.1% and Volyn – 26.1%.

Purpose of Address Verification

According to the Ministry of Community Development, during the verification of addresses, their existence and correct spelling are checked, as well as their linkage to the corresponding verified street.

Why is the USRA Important?

The USRA serves as the foundation for access to services, property, taxes, social protection, and recovery. This register aims to provide a unified and up-to-date address information across the entire territory of Ukraine. Among the main tasks of the USRA:

  • Eliminate errors, duplications, and manipulations, as well as identify “invisible” objects.
  • Simplify the work of communities, registrars, Administrative Services Centers (ASC), and government agencies.

The USRA project is being implemented to systematize address information and create a single current source of address data. The register is expected to significantly improve data exchange between information systems, reduce errors in addresses, combat property rights fraud, and simplify the provision of social services.

“It is intended to become one of the fundamental registers of the country. The register should significantly improve data exchange between information systems, contribute to reducing errors in addresses, combat fraud regarding property rights, and simplify the provision of social services.”
