Detention of military personnel and circumstances of the incident
According to preliminary information, SBU employees conducted a special operation regarding military personnel from the alert group. Initially, reports indicated that the detention was made under a criminal article for robbery. The first version stated that the group detained a civilian, placed him in a vehicle, during which he was robbed of 30 thousand dollars, and then released him from the car. During the detention, weapons were used due to the refusal to stop the vehicle. One group was detained on Balkivska Street, while another was in the area of the Peresyp Bridge.
Later, this information was removed, and currently, the official reason for the detention has not been clarified by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It is only known that the fact of the detention was confirmed by the TCC.
“By the decision of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the head of the Odesa regional territorial recruitment and social support center, as well as the head of the Peresyp district territorial recruitment and social support center, have been removed from their official duties. Additionally, the head of the Main Military Law Enforcement Service of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has been instructed to conduct a service investigation regarding this fact,” the post states.
Details of the special operation and the TCC’s position
The special operation to detain military personnel took place on April 21. According to media reports and sources in the SBU, eight representatives of the Peresyp TCC were detained on suspicion of extorting 50 thousand dollars. During the operation, according to some reports, gunfire occurred, and during searches, cash and items resembling weapons were found with the suspects. The reasons and all circumstances of the incident are not officially disclosed, and a service investigation is ongoing.
The leadership of the Odesa TCC emphasized the importance of a maximally transparent and objective investigation, stressing that any violations of the law or abuse of official powers by military personnel are unacceptable and must receive legal assessment.
