Since 2021, a total of 8,644 new agricultural companies have been officially registered in Ukraine, while 3,416 enterprises in this sector have ceased operations. The largest increase in new agricultural companies was recorded in 2021, when 2,678 farms began operations. However, following the onset of the full-scale invasion by the Russian Federation in 2022, the number of new registrations significantly decreased, with only 1,558 agricultural enterprises established.

Agribusiness Dynamics in 2023-2025
Starting in 2023, the agricultural sector has shown signs of gradual recovery, with 1,697 new companies emerging over the year. From January to July 2025, 869 new agricultural enterprises have already been registered, indicating a return of confidence in the industry despite the challenging situation in the country.
Regional Structure of Registrations and Closures
The agricultural business is most actively developing in the Odesa region, where 612 new firms have been registered. Following in the rankings are Kyiv (600 companies), Lviv region (597), Vinnytsia (591), and Dnipropetrovsk (535). At the same time, the largest number of agricultural sector enterprises that closed down was also in the Odesa region, with 606 companies. A significant number of closures were recorded in Dnipropetrovsk (225), Khmelnytskyi (201), Kyiv (199), and Mykolaiv (191) regions.

Among the popular destinations for agribusiness relocation are Rivne, Volyn, Khmelnytskyi, and Transcarpathian regions. This trend reflects the desire of agricultural producers to find safer conditions for their operations and business development.
