NABU Initiates Sanctions Against Ivanushchenko Due to Assets and Ties with Russia

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine has appealed to President Volodymyr Zelensky and the Security Service of Ukraine with a request to impose sanctions against former MP from the banned “Party of Regions” Yuriy Ivanushchenko.

Justification for Sanctions and Main Accusations

According to NABU, Ivanushchenko is suspected of money laundering of assets obtained illegally, particularly through transactions involving land plots in the “Stolichny” market. The investigation has established that business structures under his control operate both in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine and directly in the territory of the Russian Federation.

In addition, law enforcement has documented Ivanushchenko’s possession of Russian citizenship and discovered connections with individuals who financially supported the occupying administrations of Russia. Among the evidence are documents confirming that he received a Russian Federation passport as early as 2004.

“A group of five individuals unlawfully appropriated and legalized 18 hectares of land belonging to the state. The estimated market value of the plots exceeds 160 million hryvnias.”

New Details in the Case and International Connections

Investigators have also uncovered financial channels between Ivanushchenko and Russia. In mid-March 2026, a journalistic investigation revealed that Ivanushchenko regularly made flights to Russia alongside businessman Ruben Tatulyan, known as a financier of the Russian criminal world.

Ivanushchenko has been wanted since September of last year. His name is linked to the appropriation of nine land plots in the “Stolichny” market totaling 18 hectares, which belong to the state. Estimates suggest their market value exceeds 160 million hryvnias.
