Motorola’s Strong Surge and the Success of the Razr Series
According to analysts, the shipment volumes of foldable smartphones in the region increased by 28% compared to the previous period. The primary driver of this growth has been compact models in the flip form factor. Motorola has become the leader in growth rates, capturing 44% of the foldable phone market in North America. This is a significant breakthrough, as just recently, Samsung practically controlled the entire segment.
The key to this growth has been the popularity of the Motorola Razr 2025 lineup. The manufacturer focused on a vertical form factor and an affordable pricing strategy. Thanks to attractive prices and partnerships with mobile operators, Motorola devices have moved beyond niche products and become mainstream.

Competitors Intensify the Competition
Despite Motorola’s success, Samsung maintains its leadership with a 51% market share. The South Korean giant retains its position, especially in the “clamshell” device segment, although its dominance is gradually weakening under competitive pressure. The Razr series poses significant competition to Samsung, gradually reclaiming popularity in the flip category.
Google has also performed well: in 2025, it increased its sales by 52% and captured 5% of the market, thanks to the release of the new Pixel 10 Pro Fold model.
“Motorola’s pricing strategy and partnerships with telecom operators have played a key role in expanding the market, while Google’s ongoing investments in this category have also contributed to the overall momentum,” notes Liz Lee, Deputy Director at Counterpoint.
Experts indicate that the monopoly of a single manufacturer in the North American foldable smartphone market has shifted to healthy competition, stimulating the development of the entire category. It is forecasted that in 2026, the competition will only intensify, as Apple is expected to release its first foldable iPhone. This decision could fundamentally change the situation and attract a new audience to the segment that traditionally chooses Apple products.
Additionally, Motorola is already preparing to unveil a new product — the Razr 70 Ultra, which is set to be a worthy response to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7. The Motorola Edge 60 Neo smartphone is also gaining popularity in the mid-range segment due to its compactness and powerful camera.
