According to the results of an anonymous online survey by Rakuten Viber, over 58% of Ukrainians have experience using artificial intelligence tools, with one in four doing so regularly. More than 6,000 respondents participated in the survey.

Frequency of AI Use Among Ukrainians
The results indicate that 33% of respondents use AI tools occasionally, while 25% do so regularly. At the same time, 21% have never used such technologies, and 12% are unfamiliar with the concept of artificial intelligence. An additional 9% noted that they have tried AI tools but are not currently using them.
Most Popular AI Tools and Areas of Application
Among the most well-known artificial intelligence tools, Ukrainians identified ChatGPT — 85% of survey participants had heard of it. Google Gemini ranked second with 64% awareness. Following are Microsoft Copilot (20%), Midjourney (11%), Claude (8%), DALL-E (7%), Perplexity AI (5%), and others. Only 3% of respondents had not heard of any of the mentioned services.
AI is most commonly used for information search (81%), in professional activities (37%), and for learning (35%). Other popular areas include idea and inspiration generation (31%), obtaining medical advice (27%), entertainment (24%), object identification from photos (22%), and writing emails and long messages (18%).
Main Barriers to Using Artificial Intelligence
Among those who have tried AI tools but do not use them regularly, the main reasons include concerns about data privacy or security (31%), not finding the results particularly useful (30%), distrust in the information (29%), lack of understanding of how it works (16%), and difficulty in using it (11%). Additionally, 11% indicated that AI was unable to answer their questions, while 13% cited other reasons.
Respondents who have never used artificial intelligence tools explain this by stating that they find it convenient without them (43%), have not had the opportunity to try (25%), are unsure of the usefulness of the services (23%), do not know how such tools work (17%), or do not wish to pay for their use (16%). Another 14% are unaware of what services are available or where to find them, and 5% noted that they do not know how to register.
