The Russian Federation does not plan to return to participation in the international music competition Eurovision. The reason for this is said to be the mismatch with modern criteria for selecting participants and the atmosphere of the contest, which the Kremlin considers “unacceptable” for the country.

Lavrov’s statement on Russia’s participation in Eurovision
As stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Sergey Lavrov, the criteria by which participants are currently selected for Eurovision were compared to “satanism.” During a conversation with Russian journalists, commenting on the possibility of Russia’s return to the contest, Lavrov emphasized that the country cannot meet these requirements.
“I want to say right away, we cannot meet the criteria that currently define the participants of ‘Eurovision’ and which are truly the criteria of overt satanism. We cannot, I swear” — said Lavrov.
Lavrov emphasized that Russia is currently developing its own music competition called “Intervision.” He noted that the organizers have not yet decided on the timing of the event, but expressed hope that events in the Middle East will not affect plans for the second stage of the competition this year.
Lavrov’s remarks on the situation in the EU and Ukraine
In addition to criticizing Eurovision, Sergey Lavrov commented on the European Union and Ukraine, claiming that “satanism is flourishing wildly” in these countries. He also accused European states of supporting the “legalized sacrilege” of Kyiv.
Furthermore, during a recent press conference in New Delhi, the capital of India, Lavrov threatened a journalist after the translation on a phone went off loudly several times in the hall. The minister repeatedly asked to mute the sound and even appealed to security due to the noise during his speech.
