The funicular in Kyiv will temporarily cease operations from July 14 to August 22 due to scheduled annual maintenance. This schedule is determined by the lowest passenger traffic during the summer period, when the number of users decreases by almost half compared to other seasons.

Repair Work and Equipment Upgrades
During the maintenance, specialists will carry out comprehensive work: they will update the machine room, compressor room, and thyristor hall, as well as conduct an inspection of the track condition. Some of the sleepers will be replaced to enhance the safety and reliability of the funicular’s operation.
In addition, a major overhaul of the car components and aggregates is planned, along with the modernization of the machine room and bodywork repairs. All these measures aim to improve the technical condition of the transport and ensure comfortable conditions for passengers.
Preparation for Resuming Operations
Before the funicular resumes operations, specialists will conduct thorough static and dynamic load tests. This will ensure a safe launch and continued operation of the facility.
“Repair work is carried out in the summer due to the lowest passenger traffic. In July and August, the funicular serves up to 2,000 passengers a day, which is almost half of the number during other seasons,” the statement reads.
After the repairs are completed, the capital’s funicular will resume passenger transportation, providing convenient transport connections between Podil and the Upper City.
