Kryukov Carriage Works has completed the scheduled major overhaul of the dual-system high-speed electric train EKr1-001 “Tarpan” and has handed it over to Ukrzaliznytsia. The updated train has been operating regular services on the Kyiv – Dnipro route since February 25.

Features of the EKr1-001 “Tarpan” Electric Train
The dual-system high-speed electric train EKr1-001 “Tarpan” was developed and manufactured at Kryukov Carriage Works and has been in operation since 2014. The train consists of nine cars: two driving cars and seven intermediate cars, including first and second class compartments.

Details of the Overhaul
The major overhaul of type KR-2 is conducted after the train has traveled 3 million kilometers. As part of the repair work, the exterior of the rolling stock was completely updated, and repairs were made to the body equipment, automatic couplers, inter-car airtight passages, external and internal doors, retractable platforms, as well as braking and pneumatic equipment. Special attention was paid to the repair of interior elements.
- Damaged double-glazed windows and windshields were replaced, as well as the flooring in the vestibules.
- Sanitary and technical equipment, life support systems, and electrical equipment were repaired.
- A major overhaul of the bogies was conducted, replacing components and necessary parts.
The work involved not only specialists from Kryukov Works but also Ukrainian and international partners, including companies such as “Khartorn-Express”, “Ekavator”, “Ukrelectroapparat”, “Knorr-Bremse”, and others.
