The British premium car manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover has announced the suspension of its vehicle shipments to the United States of America. This decision will last for a month due to new trade conditions, specifically the implementation of a 25% tariff on imported vehicles.

The company provided this information for release to American media. Currently, Jaguar Land Rover has over 200 dealerships in the US, which will not operate for the next month.
“The US is an important market for JLR’s luxury brands. However, while we are working through the new trade conditions with our business partners, we have to take short-term measures, including the suspension of shipments in April. We are also developing medium- and long-term plans,” said a company representative.
It is also worth noting that last week a 25% tariff on all foreign cars imported into America came into effect. This decision was made by the Trump administration to support local manufacturing and create new jobs.
In 2024, Jaguar Land Rover sold 430,000 vehicles worldwide, of which a quarter were sold in North America. In addition to JLR, other automotive brands have also reacted to the new tariff regulations. For example, the German company Volkswagen announced that in the future, American customers should be prepared to pay extra for the delivery of vehicles beyond the recommended retail price, although the exact amount is not yet known.
Furthermore, the Mercedes group is considering the possibility of discontinuing the sale of budget models in the US and raising prices on luxury vehicles. The company hopes that the absence of budget cars will lead American buyers to shift towards purchasing more expensive models.
