Imports to Ukraine Exceeded Exports in the First Quarter of 2026

In the first quarter of 2026, the volume of goods imported into Ukraine significantly exceeded export figures. According to the State Customs Service, from January to March, goods worth $23.4 billion were imported, while exports amounted to $10.1 billion.

Import Structure and Main Partner Countries

The total taxable import volume reached $16.2 billion, accounting for 69% of all goods brought into Ukraine. The largest volume of goods came from China at $6.3 billion, followed by Poland at $2.2 billion, and Turkey rounding out the top three with $1.6 billion.

The structure of imported goods is dominated by machinery, equipment, and vehicles at $9.5 billion, which constitutes 71% of all goods imported into the country. A significant share also comes from fuel and energy products at $3.8 billion, as well as chemical industry products at $3.4 billion.

Main Export Directions and Budget Revenues

Ukraine’s largest exports were to Poland at $1.1 billion, Turkey at $840 million, and Germany at $659 million. The export structure is dominated by food products, which amounted to $6.3 billion. In second place are metals and metal products ($929 million), followed by machinery, equipment, and transport ($848 million).

Thanks to customs revenues from the export of goods subject to export duties, the state budget received over 509 million hryvnias during this period.
