The People’s Republic of China has granted permission for the import of Ukrainian peas following a successful audit and review of the relevant materials. The opening of the market is the result of coordinated efforts by Ukrainian government and public organizations to provide the Chinese side with the necessary information regarding the operational conditions of enterprises and the capabilities for conducting laboratory research on the products.

Audit Details and Exporter Registration
The State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection, together with the Public Union “Community of Producers and Consumers of Legumes of Ukraine,” provided the PRC with technical and video materials confirming the compliance of enterprises with export requirements. As a result, the General Administration of Customs of China has registered two Ukrainian enterprises engaged in the storage and processing of peas, which can now begin supplying products to the Chinese market. Three more companies have been included in the list of potential exporters, and four enterprises are on the list of producers growing peas for export to the PRC.
“To export Ukrainian peas to the People’s Republic of China, enterprises involved in their cultivation, storage, processing, and export must meet the requirements of the Roadmap. This document outlines the key steps for entering the Chinese market,” the agency concluded.
Preconditions for Market Opening and Prospects for Ukraine
In March 2025, a bilateral agreement was signed between Ukraine and the PRC that defined the conditions for exporting wild-caught aquatic products and peas to China. However, no actual shipments of peas had taken place until now. With the completion of the audit and the official opening of the market, Ukrainian producers have the opportunity to expand their export geography and strengthen their positions in the international legume market.
