The official exchange rate of the hryvnia against leading currencies continues to decline. The National Bank of Ukraine set the exchange rate for the US dollar at 42.25 hryvnias per dollar for Tuesday, December 16. This means that the Ukrainian currency has lost 6 kopecks compared to the previous official rate.

Euro Sets New Historic High
The situation with the euro is even more striking: the official exchange rate of the European currency is set at 49.65 hryvnias per euro, which is 18 kopecks higher than the day before. Thus, a new historic high for the euro in Ukraine has been recorded – the previous record was set on December 12 at 49.52 hryvnias.

Dynamics in the Interbank Currency Market
By 16:00, the exchange rates of the hryvnia against the dollar in the interbank currency market were in the range of 42.19/42.22 UAH per dollar. At the same time, the euro rate was 49.60/49.63 UAH per euro. These figures indicate a further weakening of the national currency against the backdrop of external and internal economic factors.
