Experts note that today retailers and businesses in related industries are actively implementing solar energy technologies to reduce costs and increase energy independence. For example, two years ago, the company «Epicenter» began installing solar power plants (SPPs) on the roofs of three shopping centers in Kyiv and two in Vinnytsia. The total capacity of the installed stations is about 6 MW, which allows them to meet up to 30% of the shopping centers’ electricity needs. The company aims to continue equipping its retail and logistics facilities with solar panels.

The Novus network is also striving for complete autonomy of its stores. In 2023, one of the supermarkets in Novyi Petrivtsi was equipped with solar panels, enabling it to cover 65% of the facility’s energy needs during the summer, at peak solar activity.
Additionally, the government is actively implementing support programs for investments in solar power plants. In 2023, the international brand Fox ESS, one of the leaders in the production of inverters and energy storage systems, entered Ukraine. These systems allow for the optimization of renewable energy use, particularly SPPs, by storing energy during peak generation times and supplying it to the power grid during shortages.
