In 2025, Ukraine faced a significant honey shortage, leading to a sharp increase in the price of this product. According to industry experts, in some regions of the country, honey prices have risen by 50% compared to last year.

Main Reasons for the Decline in Honey Yields
Producers and beekeepers report a substantial decrease in honey collection. They estimate that this year’s production volume may be one-third lower compared to 2024. The founder of “Pasika 21,” Serhiy Sharonin, notes that among the main factors contributing to this are unfavorable weather conditions — spring frosts, prolonged rains, mass cases of bee poisoning, difficult wintering, and unsuitable conditions for the flowering of honey plants.
“As a result, the first honey harvest was a failure.”
A noticeable increase in honey prices has been observed since July 2025. For comparison, the price of acacia honey in 2021 was 80–100 UAH per liter, and it has now risen to 200–250 UAH.
Honey Prices in Supermarkets and Markets
In large retail chains, honey prices depend on the brand, volume, variety, and region of origin. At the end of July 2025, in “ATB,” a jar of 250 g of honey costs from 61.90 UAH, in “Silpo” — from 34.40 UAH for 100 g, and in Varus — from 36.60 UAH for 125 g. Supermarkets offer a variety of types: sunflower, acacia, buckwheat, as well as natural honey from wildflowers. For example, in “Metro,” a jar of wildflower honey with a volume of 300 g will cost 85.90 UAH.
Ukrainians can also purchase new harvest honey directly from beekeepers or at markets, but prices remain high. The cost depends on the variety and region. Acacia honey remains the most expensive — on the market, it is priced from 500 to 650 UAH per liter. Buckwheat honey costs 250–320 UAH per liter, wildflower honey — 150–250 UAH/l, and sunflower honey — 120–200 UAH/l.
Carpathian honey is distinguished by its exceptional quality and unique composition, so its price reaches 200–300 UAH per liter. Polissya honey, collected in a region rich in wildflowers and linden, costs 150–250 UAH/l.
The rise in prices for natural honey also affects the cost of products containing honey. Analysts predict that high prices will persist at least until the next honey harvest season.
