Support for Farmers and Rural Families
According to the plan, FAO requires $193 million to fund assistance for 240,000 rural families and small farming enterprises. The funds will be directed towards preserving essential livelihoods, supporting production capacities, and ensuring food security. Special attention will be given to the restoration of production assets, targeted rehabilitation of agricultural land, and the development of market-oriented and climate-resilient agriculture.
FAO’s Current Activities in Ukraine
As of today, the organization’s active portfolio in Ukraine amounts to $25.9 million. Of this amount, $24 million has already been allocated for emergency response and recovery measures. Since the onset of the full-scale aggression by the Russian Federation, FAO has provided support to over 300,000 families and nearly 17,000 small agri-food enterprises. Assistance has included the supply of seeds, animal feed, generators, irrigation systems, and other necessary equipment.
The plan aims to ensure food production for vulnerable rural families and small farmers while also facilitating the restoration of production assets, targeted rehabilitation of agricultural land, and the development of market-oriented and climate-resilient production.
