Drone Production in Ukraine Reached a Record Level in 2024

The domestic drone industry is showing rapid growth: while only 5,000 drones were produced in Ukraine in 2022, this figure is expected to reach 4 million units by the end of 2024. In 2025, the Ministry of Defense plans to purchase an additional 4.5 million unmanned aerial vehicles for a total of $2.7 billion.

Market Development and Investment Potential

Currently, there are over 500 drone manufacturers in Ukraine offering more than a thousand different models. The FPV drone segment is particularly popular and is actively developing. At the same time, 96% of government purchases in 2023–2024 were for products from domestic companies.

Last year, investment in the drone sector exceeded $60 million. Startups attracted between $1 and $3 million in seed rounds, while more mature companies have the potential to secure tens of millions.

The market shows trends towards mergers and acquisitions: about a third of companies are open to buying competitors or selling a stake in their business. Opening up the export of Ukrainian drones will reduce dependence on government orders, ensure foreign currency inflow, and create additional opportunities for innovation development.

Localization of Production and Competitiveness

Ukrainian manufacturers are already capable of producing up to 70% of the components for FPV drones domestically. This significantly reduces dependence on imported parts and allows them to compete with leading Chinese manufacturers.
