Ethereum Investor Activates Wallet After 10 Years and Transfers 1140 ETH

One of the early investors in the Ethereum project, who participated in the initial coin offering (ICO) in 2015, has activated their wallet for the first time in nearly a decade. During this time, the funds in the account remained unchanged, and the wallet recorded no transactions.

Transfer of Millions in ETH

The investor, who received 1140 ETH during the ICO, acquired them for $353 — the price of one Ethereum token was only $0.31 at that time. Currently, considering the market rate, these assets are valued at nearly $2.9 million. All 1140 ETH were transferred to a new address, marking a significant event for the cryptocurrency community.

“One of the early participants in the initial coin offering (ICO) of the Ethereum project activated their wallet for the first time in almost 10 years — since the assets were placed in 2015.”

Other Major Transactions from Inactive Wallets

In addition to this case, another wallet that had been inactive for over six years recently made a transfer of 6000 BTC. The transaction amount was approximately $649 million. The owner of this Bitcoin wallet acquired their assets in 2019, when the price of 1 BTC was $9796, and the total value was around $58.77 million.

There have also been reports of Bitcoin transfers amounting to about $8.7 billion, conducted by a so-called “whale,” whose wallet had remained inactive for 14 years.

Such instances of old cryptocurrency wallets becoming active again always attract market attention and can influence the price dynamics of major digital assets.
