Games and Travel Become the Most Popular Areas for Crypto Payments in 2025

According to a new study by Bitget Wallet, gaming, everyday purchases, and travel bookings are the main areas for using cryptocurrencies for payments in 2025. A survey conducted among 4,599 users revealed that 36% of respondents use digital assets for gaming, while 35% use them for everyday expenses and travel.

Age and Regional Differences in Cryptocurrency Usage

The report shows significant discrepancies in the ways cryptocurrencies are used among different generations. Members of Generation Z are more likely to use crypto assets for gaming transactions and gifts, while millennials prefer shopping and subscription services. Generation X is more inclined to use digital currencies for larger expenses, particularly in travel and real estate purchases. These trends can be attributed to varying financial goals and lifestyles.

Significant regional differences were also identified. In Southeast Asia, gaming payments (41%) and gifts are predominant, linked to a young population and the popularity of gaming technologies. In East Asia, daily purchases (41%) are the most sought-after among users, thanks to the integration of cryptocurrencies with e-commerce and the spread of QR payments. In Africa, cryptocurrencies are primarily used for paying for educational services (38%) due to limited access to banking services. In Latin America, the purchase of digital goods and online shopping is popular, while in the Middle East, payments for luxury items and cars are prevalent.
