EIB finances 24 projects in Ukraine totaling €4.3 billion

The Ministry of Finance of Ukraine, together with the European Investment Bank (EIB), conducted another review of the credit portfolio of joint projects. During the meeting, they discussed preparations for signing new projects that will contribute to the restoration of social infrastructure in communities, as well as the modernization of water supply and sewage systems in cities, scheduled for April 2025.

“Ukraine’s cooperation with the EIB covers a wide range of areas that address the government’s key needs in the country’s economic development and the improvement of citizens’ lives. The EIB’s credit portfolio in Ukraine is one of the largest among international financial institutions and consists of 24 active projects with a total value of €4.3 billion,” the ministry noted.

Among the key initiatives financed by the EIB are:

  • two investment projects totaling €178 million aimed at ensuring energy efficiency in educational institution buildings and developing vocational education;
  • two investment projects totaling €400 million regarding the renewal of rolling stock for urban public transport;
  • three projects totaling €640 million related to the restoration of social infrastructure in regions with a high concentration of internally displaced persons and in areas affected by aggression from Russia.
