Distinct Possibility Studios, led by John Smedley, has secured $30.5 million in funding to develop a multiplayer first-person shooter with an open world and Web3 features.

Investment in the Development of the Web3 Gaming Industry
The funding round was led by Bitkraft and Brevan Howard. The funds will be directed towards the development of the studio’s flagship product — Reaper Actual Foundation. The project is positioned as an AAA-class MMOFPS with a vast open world, integrated blockchain technologies, and Web3 capabilities.
The game has been in development for about two years. The launch of the preliminary alpha version is expected soon. According to the creators’ vision, players will be able to interact with tokenized in-game items, such as skins and bases, which will exist on the Etherlink network. Users will have the ability to trade these items and engage in transactions.
Implementation of Innovative Web3 Features
The publication emphasizes that Reaper Actual Foundation will be one of the first games where tokenization will encompass not only cosmetic elements but also entire bases, opening new opportunities for players and collectors.
“Tezos Foundation and the Etherlink development team share our vision that the game is paramount. They prioritized creating a network that reflects this; it is clearly stated in their slogan: ‘Play, Own, Trade,’” said Smedley.
The full release of the game is scheduled for early 2026. In the initial phase, the developers aim to establish a sustainable core of players: access to gameplay will require purchasing a base with a unique character. Eventually, a transition to a free-to-play model is planned.
In June 2025, the Web3 sector and blockchain projects as a whole attracted over $2.8 billion in investments, indicating a growing interest in gaming projects that incorporate cutting-edge digital technologies.
