Current Dollar and Euro Exchange Rates in Ukraine: Analysts’ Predictions

According to an analyst, the dollar may soon find itself in a period of “great turbulence” again. Forecasts suggest that on Sunday, May 25, the dollar exchange rate in Ukraine at most financial company exchange offices and open bank branches will fall within the following ranges: buying – from 41.10 to 41.35 UAH per dollar, and selling – from 41.45 to 41.75 UAH per dollar.

Expert Oleksiy Kozyrev believes that the euro exchange rate will also fluctuate within the ranges: buying from 46.45 to 47.00 UAH per euro, and selling – from 47.10 to 47.60 UAH per euro.

Impact of Global Economic News

The expert notes that in recent days, the agreement between the US and China for a 90-day pause in the trade war, as well as the softened rhetoric of American President Donald Trump regarding tariffs with the European Union, have partially supported the American currency in global currency and stock markets. In his opinion, this has started to bring the euro/dollar pair back from a significant shock position.

Prospects for the Ukrainian Hryvnia

Despite this, the analyst warns that the dollar risks entering a period of “great turbulence” again:

“For Ukraine, with its pegging of the hryvnia exchange rate to the US dollar, and the main task of the National Bank being to smooth out fluctuations specifically regarding the American currency, this could lead to jumps in the exchange rate not just of the dollar, but specifically concerning the hryvnia, where our regulator has not yet ensured such a peg.”
