The finance ministers of the G7 countries have decided to continue supporting Ukraine in its defense against Russian aggression. This was stated by German Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil during the G7 meeting held in Canada. Earlier reports indicated that the United States opposed including “further support” for Ukraine in the official G7 statement.

Additionally, Ukrainian Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko discussed support for Ukraine with Lars Klingbeil and Canadian Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne. The Ministry of Finance of Ukraine emphasized that Canada and Germany have become two of the main countries providing comprehensive support to Ukraine since the beginning of the war. In particular, the amount of direct budget assistance from Germany has reached $1.7 billion, while from Canada it has totaled $7.1 billion.
According to data from the Kiel Institute, Germany’s assistance is the second largest in the world, amounting to €17.3 billion since the conflict began. Canadian assistance ranks fifth in the world, totaling €10.3 billion. The finance ministers of Canada and Germany confirmed that their governments will continue to provide comprehensive support to Ukraine.
