ARMA Sells Illegal Mining Farm in Ukraine

The equipment discovered at an illegally established farm in the branch of “Forests of Ukraine” is set to be sold at auction. This decision was made by the Lychakiv District Court of Lviv. This is reported by Finway

In the branch of the State Specialized Enterprise “Forests of Ukraine”, equipment for mining crypto assets was found to have been used illegally. This was reported by ARMA Chairwoman Olena Duma. Specialists from the Western Interregional Territorial Administration of ARMA inspected the equipment and confirmed that it is in working condition.

Competitive Selection for Sale

According to Duma, the agency has already begun the competitive selection of an entity that will handle the sale of this equipment. The value, hash rate, and technical specifications of the farm have not been disclosed.

Illegal Mining and Its Consequences

In her publication, the agency chairwoman emphasized that the equipment was installed by the management of the enterprise at one of its branches. The illegal mining was conducted for personal enrichment. In June 2023, Ukrainian media reported the exposure of an underground data center in “Forests of Ukraine”, located in the branch of “Rava-Ruska Forestry”. The farm was organized by the former director, his deputy, the chief accountant, and several other employees, with the costs of electricity covered by the state.

According to preliminary estimates, the losses from this activity amounted to 1.5 million hryvnias, while the net profit of the perpetrators was around 4 million hryvnias. Olena Duma did not specify details regarding this case in her publication.
