Chinese Cars Gain Popularity in the Ukrainian Market: Sales Statistics

The Ukrainian market for passenger cars is showing an increasing interest in vehicles produced in China. From January to September of this year, citizens of Ukraine purchased 14,684 passenger cars imported from China, which is a 27% increase compared to last year.

Popularity of New Electric Vehicles from China

Of the total number, 12,064 units were new cars, indicating a 39% rise in demand for new vehicles. The remaining 2,620 were used cars, which saw a slight decrease in sales of 8% compared to the same period last year.

The vast majority of passenger cars from China are electric vehicles, with their market share reaching 87%. Among the new models, the BYD Song Plus crossover holds the lead, becoming the most popular choice among buyers.

The top 5 new cars from China most frequently chosen by Ukrainians are:

  • BYD Song Plus – 2,014 units
  • Volkswagen ID. UNYX – 1,599
  • Honda eNS1 – 992
  • Zeekr 7X – 726
  • BYD Sea Lion 07 – 618

Among used passenger cars from China, the most sought-after was the Zeekr 001 sports electric vehicle, which topped the corresponding ranking. The top five also included the Zeekr 7X, Polestar 2, BYD Song Plus, and Audi Q4.
