Currently, negotiations are ongoing between China and Russia regarding the implementation of the “Power of Siberia-2” pipeline project, which aims to supply gas from Russia to China. However, the route of the pipeline, which has a capacity of 50 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year, has not yet been agreed upon.
In 2024, Russia has already increased its LNG supplies to China by 3.3% to 8.3 million tons, allowing it to secure third place among LNG suppliers to China. Malaysia and the United States also remain significant exporters of LNG to China, with the U.S. accounting for approximately 5% of China’s LNG imports last year.
Meanwhile, in the U.S., the Federal Appeals Court ruled in favor of the administration of former President Biden, rejecting the complaints from environmental organizations regarding the Alaska Gasline Development Corp. project. This project involves the construction of a 1,300 km pipeline from northern Alaska, costing $44 billion, which will transport gas across the state before its export abroad.
