In Rivne, a package of cherries containing only 11 berries was sold for 162 hryvnias and 76 kopecks. The total weight of the package is 168 grams. Consumers are being ironic on social media, noting:
“Such cherries can already be given as gifts to girls”
.
Despite the high prices, the demand for cherries remains consistently high. As one seller claims,
“Early cherries are always expensive. Right now, it’s 1300 hryvnias per kilogram. It was even more expensive before. This is a normal price at the start”
.
At the same time, on the official websites of supermarkets, cherry prices also vary: at “Silpo,” premium cherries cost 13.90 UAH per 100 g, while the Novus website states that red cherries are out of stock. Similar information is confirmed by the official ATB website.
Experts predict that high cherry prices may persist for at least a month until the Transcarpathian berries appear, which, according to them, could cost 300, 200, or even 100 hryvnias per kilogram.
