Cabinet of Ministers Restructures: Several Ministries Renamed and Liquidated

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has made a significant decision regarding the reorganization of the government structure, which involves renaming, merging, and liquidating several central executive bodies. In particular, the Ministry of Strategic Industries has been liquidated, and its functions have been transferred to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

Renaming and Changes in the Composition of Ministries

As part of the approved changes, the Ministry of Social Policy has been renamed to the Ministry of Social Policy, Family, and Unity of Ukraine. Thus, the Ministry of National Unity has been integrated into it, which will enhance the focus on issues related to family support and strengthening social consolidation.

Changes have also occurred in the structure of the economic block of the government. The Ministry of Economy has been renamed to the Ministry of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture of Ukraine. As a result of this decision, two departments have been liquidated: the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food and the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources. Their functions are now integrated into the structure of the updated ministry, allowing for the optimization of management processes and strengthening the coordination of state policy in the relevant areas.

Transfer of Defense Functions and Expected Outcomes

The functions of the liquidated Ministry of Strategic Industries have been transferred to the Ministry of Defense. This decision, according to Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal, aims to create a cohesive defense management space that will facilitate more effective coordination and interaction among all elements of the state’s security and defense sector.

“The institutional functions of the Ministry of Strategic Industries will be integrated into the structure of the Ministry of Defense. In particular, the functions of attracting investments to the defense industry, cooperation with partners in the defense sector, including joint production of weapons,” Shmyhal noted.

The government expects that the implemented changes will enhance the effectiveness of public administration, optimize the functioning of ministries, and promote better interaction in matters of the economy, social policy, and the defense sector of Ukraine.
