The National Commission for State Regulation in the Spheres of Energy and Public Utilities (NKREKP) is preparing to raise the price caps on electricity in the main markets of the country. This decision was initiated by the Energy Market Department following an open discussion that took place on April 17.

New Price Caps for Electricity
According to the updated proposals, the maximum and minimum price caps will be adjusted for different segments of the energy market. In the day-ahead market and the intraday market, the maximum price cap will rise to 15,000 hryvnias per megawatt-hour, while the minimum will be set at 10 hryvnias per megawatt-hour.
- Maximum price cap – 15,000 UAH/MWh;
- Minimum price cap – 10 UAH/MWh.
Changes in the Balancing Market
In the balancing market, the price caps will also be adjusted. The maximum price cap for this segment will increase to 17,000 hryvnias per megawatt-hour, while the minimum will be 0.01 hryvnias per megawatt-hour.
- Maximum price cap – 17,000 UAH/MWh;
- Minimum price cap – 0.01 UAH/MWh.
“The implementation is planned to start on May 1, 2026.”
The introduction of new price caps for electricity is scheduled for May 1, 2026. This decision aims to ensure the stability of the energy market and promote its further development in the context of rising demand and challenges to the country’s energy security.
